Update: The Amber Alert for Taliyah Leigh Marsman has been cancelled after a body was located

The father of Taliyah Leigh Marsman is speaking out, asking for anyone with information on the whereabouts of his five-year-old daughter to “do the right thing” and come forward.

An Alberta-wide Amber Alert was issued for Marsman shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday after police discovered the girl’s mother, 34-year-old Sara Baillie, dead in the Panorama Hills basement suite the two shared.

Calgary police believe Marsman was abducted from the basement suite, located in the 1000 block of Panamount Boulevard N.W.

Investigators found no sign of forced entry.

Baille’s estranged husband, 36-year-old Colin Marsman (also Taliyah Marsman’s father), said in a statement that five-year-old Taliyah Marsman is his “light” and he loves her with all his heart.

He asked that she be allowed to come home to her family.

“It’s never too late to do the right thing If you even think you might have seen something that could be a clue, let your local law enforcement know immediately,” he said.

Both Baillie and Colin Marsman were known to police due to domestic-violence related calls.

“There’s limited domestic history – both reported and unreported,” Inspector Don Coleman of the Calgary Police Service Major Crimes section said at a Tuesday morning news conference.

Taliyah Marsman was last seen by family on Sunday at around 11:30 a.m.

Anyone with information on the girl’s disappearance is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service’s non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or 403-53-AMBER (403-532-6237).

“With all my heart, I love her so much; she is my light! Please allow her to come home to her family.

“Once again, I truly appreciate all the people who have shown support to our family and are praying for the safe return of Taliyah at this time. Those who know me best, know the person and kind of father I am and know more than anything I just want my baby girl back.

“Once again I plead for anyone knowing anything about where Taliyah is to please come forward with anything that will help get her home and back to her family.”
