A 21-year-old Oliver man has been arrested after allegedly dealing drugs in broad daylight in Kelowna.
Police say they observed the apparent transaction go down inside a vehicle just before 1 p.m. Wednesday on Gaston Avenue in north Kelowna.
“The officer stopped the suspect vehicle and was in the process of arresting and handcuffing the driver when the suspect suddenly turned uncooperative,” said Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey in a media release. “While handcuffed by only one arm through the driver’s side window, the suspect was believed to be [destroying] evidence inside the vehicle with his free hand.”
RCMP had to call for backup and successfully arrested the alleged dealer and buyer.

A K9 unit was also called in to search the vehicle and found 40 small baggies of what’s believed to be heroin and 27 baggies of suspected crack cocaine.
The Oliver man is now facing potential trafficking and possession charges.
The suspect buyer was later released without charge.
