Regina Votes – Ward 3

Ward 3 is right in the heart of Regina.  South of the CP rail tracks, it stretches from the heritage neighbourhood just east of downtown, down to cathedral, and west to the city boundry.

In the ward you’ll find the city square plaza, hotel Saskatchewan, police headquarters and the general hospital.

Ward 3 does have some issues with crime, particularly in the heritage neighbourhood, where some of the most disadvantaged in our community call home.  There is a need for safe affordable housing in the ward.

A focus on bringing more life to the downtown core has also brought some growing pains to the ward, major construction projects have created traffic and parking problems.

The 2009 election saw very low voter turnout in the ward with just 22% of people casting a ballot.  They returned Fred Clipsham for a sixth term.
