Regulation for ride-sharing services in B.C. could be an election issue

It is an issue that has pitted the taxi industry against the provincial government and now we are learning that ride-sharing service regulations could end up as an election issue.

The provincial government now says it is likely it will table a plan before next May’s election.

Apps like Uber and Lyft are popular in other cities but concerns over insurance and other factors have delayed any roll out in B.C.

The province has been getting input from various stakeholders and a discussion paper will be presented in September.
