‘We had a vision’: Vancouver Island woman runs food truck on family farm

One of the keys to success in the food truck industry is finding the right location, usually on a street corner where trucks can catch the eye of passersby.

But Harvest Road, a food truck located in central Saanich, has taken a different approach.

Owner Jenni Brown set up the food truck on her family’s farm, sourcing all the ingredients for the food she serves directly from nearby fields so they’re always “super, super fresh.”

The menu is always changing based on what’s in season and Brown says that has customers coming back for more.

Despite being isolated on a farm, Brown says there has been no problem attracting customers. The nearby Galloping Goose and Lochside trails bring in cyclists who incorporate a pit stop at Harvest Road into their journey.

For Brown, it’s the realization of a dream.

“It’s really satisfying…I’m actually really proud of us,” she said. “We had a vision and it’s totally coming together the way we had hoped.”
