Halifax Regional Police (HRP) are investigating an incident in which a 13-year-old girl may have been sexually assaulted.
HRP say at about 4 p.m. Saturday, July 2, the girl said a man approached her on Wyse Road in Dartmouth and asked where she was going. The incident was reported to police three hours later.
The girl walked away without answering the man or making eye contact. Police say he continued to ask her where she was going.
The girl refused to answer and police say he then touched her in a sexual manner over her clothes before she yelled and ran away.
The man is described as a 50- to 60-year-old black man, about 5’6″ with an average build, short grey hair with a bald spot and a short grey goatee. Officers say the man may have a speech impediment.
Investigators also say the man wore a faded royal blue rain jacket at the time of the incident.
