This all comes as the authority is set to undergo a provincial funding review.

‘I am really hoping that what we’re trying to do today and for the next few weeks, will make it a fair and transparent decision and that the province will step back and sort of maybe look at some of the information that comes forward,” said Lorna Shaw Lennox, one of the organizers of the campaign.

The authority’s provincial funding remained unchanged in the past budget.

They plan to close its interpretive centre at the end of June to make ends meet.

Lloyd Isaak, CEO of the MVA, told Global News funding has dwindled to about a third of what it once was once inflation is factored in.

Isaak hopes the provincial review will lead to more solid financial footing as use of the MVA’s facilities, including 56 kilometres of trails and conservation areas, continues to grow.
