Medicine Hat man charged with luring, sexually assaulting teenage girl

A 37-year-old Medicine Hat man is accused of luring and sexually assaulting a teenage girl who lives in Cypress County.

RCMP said officers began an investigation into the allegations on Friday.

Aaron Curtis Diaz has been charged with two counts of of sexual assault, one count of distributing sexually-explicit material to a child and one count of luring a person under 18 years by means of telecommunication.

The RCMP provided few details but said “there was no connection between Diaz and the victim outside of social media.”

Diaz is to appear in court on July 7.
