Boy, 12, charged after boy, 10, hit with stick on Elliot Lake, Ont. beach: police

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. — Police say a 12-year-old boy is facing an assault charge arising from an incident on a beach in Elliot Lake, Ont.

OPP say officers were called to the beach late Wednesday afternoon to investigate a report that a 10-year-old had been injured.

Police allege a group of kids had ganged up on the 10-year-old boy, pushing, shoving and chasing him.

They say the incident escalated to the point where a stick was thrown at the boy and he received a gash to the right side of his head that required stitches.

A 12-year-old boy was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

He’s to appear in court in Elliot Lake on Aug. 2.
