After her home was broken into by a stalker June 17, Top Gun actress Kelly McGillis is planning on securing a conceal-and-carry gun permit.

The ’80s movie star, who already owns several weapons and keeps them, along with ammunition, safely stored in her house, was so traumatized by the experience that she feels that she needs more protection.

McGillis, 58, posted to Facebook about the incident.

“Upon entering the house I notice a pair of girls pink sandals and a black larger pair,” McGillis wrote. “[But then] a stranger, a woman, came barreling down the hallway and began yelling at me. I asked her who she is and why she was in my house and she said, ‘You know why you’ve been stalking me in Twitter.’ Not true.”

The woman had apparently brought a little girl with her, but McGillis did not see her.

According to McGillis, the intruder “began punching and scratching [me] trying to grab the phone out of my hand. I began screaming as loud as I could hoping someone somewhere might hear me.”

She managed to set off her car alarm with her car keys. With the woman still after her, McGillis ran to her truck and drove away. She eventually flagged down another vehicle, and the driver called 911.

Laurence Marie Dorn, 38, was arrested by the Henderson County police and charged with second-degree burglary, misdemeanour larceny, misdemeanour stalking and assault and battery. She is being held on $60,000 bond.

McGillis has had other traumatic events happen to her; in 1982, she was raped by two men.

She last appeared in 2015 movie Blue.
