POINTE-CLAIRE — Drivers describe it as “dangerous,” “confusing” and “an accident waiting to happen.” The Sources Boulevard Overpass is drawing fire not just for its structural issues, but its traffic pattern.
One driver Global News spoke with described the southbound lane of the overpass — where traffic can either head west on Highway 20, east on Highway 20 or turn off to Lakeshore — as a potential hazard.
“You’re asking for front-end collisions with people coming off the 20 going east.”
On the Facebook group Dorval News and Information, several posters vented about the dangerous nature of how the interchange going off the bridge is painted — they want solid instead of dotted lines.
“There’s cars going like this and like that,” said one driver Global News spoke to, gesturing weaving motions with his hands.
“It’s very, very dangerous.”
The City of Pointe-Claire, which is where the bridge sits, referred questions to the provincial transport ministry. MTQ officials didn’t return calls seeking comment by deadline.
