Police in North Vancouver are warning the public after a bear broke into a car and stole a box of protein bars left in the vehicle.

It happened early this morning in front of a home on Panorama Drive in Deep Cove. A red car was parked outside the house, and the owners woke up to find it badly damaged by a bear.

“[The bear] had broken the windows, attempted to pry open a door and ripped apart the vehicle’s interior. The unknown bear left numerous paw prints, claw marks, and fur,” said North Vancouver RCMP.

“There was evidence that it had consumed a box of protein bars that had been left in the vehicle.”
