The Saskatoon Valkyries advanced to the Women’s Canadian Football League (WWCFL) championship game with a 29-14 victory over their provincial rivals, the Regina Riot. The Prairie Conference Final was held June 19 at SMF Field.

It’s been almost a full year since the Valkyries saw their hopes for a fifth straight WWCFL title crushed by their biggest rival.

Regina was attempting to defend their 2015 league championship but Saskatoon had a shot at redemption and they took it.

Saskatoon will now face the Edmonton Storm on Saturday in Lethbridge for the 2016 WWCFL championship title.

The two finalists met once this pre-season play with the Valkyries coming out on top 30-17.
