The Global News Hour at 6 is on the road Thursday June 16 at an urban gem: Fish Creek Provincial Park.
Global’s Gord Gillies, Linda Olsen, Tomasia Da Silva and Paul Dunphy are live at the largest city park in Canada, with The Bow Valley Ranche restaurant as their backdrop.
The historic building is on the grounds of the park, where some of Calgary’s most prominent pioneers settled.
WATCH: Restaurants come and go, especially in tough times, but some endure the test of time. Originally built in 1986, the Bow Valley Ranche has done just that. Global’s Tomasia DaSilva explains how it’s reinvented itself from a place to dine to an event destination.
Now it’s home to a learning centre, a native species garden, trails and great picnic spots. The Friends of Fish Creek group is even organizing a full moon meditation. For more information on Monday’s event, click here.
WATCH: It’s a vast wilderness, 23 kilometres from one end to the other. Fish Creek is the largest urban park in Canada. Global’s Doug Vaessen went on a tour and found out the park offers much that is super natural.
The park spans 19 kilometres east to west, with more than 20 adjacent communities.
