George Lee Elementary School had 85 participants in its first-ever egg toss on Friday.
Students from Grade 1 to Grade 6 came up with their own contraptions to get their eggs safely to the ground.
The eggs had to endure a 15 meter drop from the top of a fire truck ladder. Some of the contraptions included a box filled with marshmallows and egg sandwiches between a loaf of bread.
Chris Keyes, the school’s principal, said the contest was used to have some end-of-the-year fun and to teach kids that science rules.
There was one father with his son in here today with a tank of helium, and they had calculated the weight of the egg and how much helium they would need to float that egg,” Keyes said.
“So, it is absolutely about science and engineering.”
