Halifax police investigating alleged sexual assault involving taxi driver

Halifax Regional Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault they say occurred in a taxi cab.

Police say man driving a taxi in the area of Grafton and Blowers streets picked up a 25-year-old woman at about 1 a.m. on June 4.

While in the vehicle, the man reportedly touched the victim in a sexual manner, before arriving to the destination.

The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern male in his late 30s.

Police say sexual assault investigations are very complex and they do everything they can to ensure the privacy and protection of potential victims.

The incident was reported to police on June 6.
