Regina gang members among those charged in ‘Project SHRED’ investigation

Police reveal undercover operation that led to arrests of Native Syndicate gang members – Jun 6, 2016

Charges have been laid against members of the Native Syndicate Street Gang and other individuals in connection with a series of violent incidents in Regina.

Police say on Friday, June 3, a number of individuals, including several members of the gang, were arrested and charged with a number of offences including robbery with violence, assault causing bodily harm and extortion.

The arrests came after a two-month investigation, called “Project SHRED,” into violent offences in the city that involved individuals who allegedly participated in drug trafficking.

According to police, the evidence collected during the investigation included a firearm, replica firearms, ammunition, a machete, Canadian currency, fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetime, morphine and marijuana.

Nine men between the ages of 18 and 40 appeared in Provincial Court Monday morning.

Jeremy John Arnold, 35, from Regina, faces seven charges including instructing commission of criminal offence for criminal organization. The other eight accused each face a charge of participation in a criminal organization.

In total, 20 charges were read in court in connection with the investigation.
