It was an international celebration in Regina, as the 49th annual Mosaic multicultural festival kicked off its third and final day.
Over a dozen countries were represented at 17 pavilions across the city, with many including multiple dance performances.
Poltava Ukraine’s Noah Evanchuk was among the few people greeting guests at the door. He said the three day event was all about welcoming the entire city and enriching the days with culture and performing arts.
“We’re a multicultural society and we don’t often get to celebrate that on a day to day basis,” Noah Evanchuk, Poltava Ukraine ambassador said.
“The important thing is especially, when we get new pavilions from new Canadians who are excited to be a part of Canadian culture.”
While the many dance performances were a huge hit for Regina residents, a big draw to the cultural festival was to sample and taste the many different flavours of Regina.
For other organizers, the festival was all about celebrating different cultures, and fostering a feeling of inclusiveness.
“The compliments, it makes us feel good. Even if it’s so tiring, but it’s happy times,” Sonny de Paz, president of Philippine Association of Saskatchewan, said.
Organizers are already planning next year’s 50th bash, promising it will be bigger and better than ever.
