Two people have been rushed to hospital after a car slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer in Scarborough.
A male driver, who police believe is in his early 20s, was airlifted to hospital in critical condition after the Honda crashed into the truck around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on Lawrence Avenue East near Mossbank Driver.
The collision saw the driver’s side of the car pinned under the right rear of the truck, and firefighters had to use the jaws of life to free the pair inside.
Paramedics say a passenger was rushed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Const. Clint Stibbe says it’s believed the car was sideswiped, sending it into the truck.
He said Wednesday afternoon the driver’s condition was listed as non-life-threatening.
The area was closed as police investigated.
