The TTC is investigating after video posted online shows the doors of a subway car dangerously open as the train heads over the Bloor Viaduct.
The normally shut-tight doors are completely open as the eastbound train travels over the bridge, a scary moment captured in footage posted to Twitter on Friday night.
The post says the the TTC “tried to fix” the door before letting the train continue on over the viaduct just after 6 p.m..
Spokesman Brad Ross said the train had door trouble at Castle Frank station, but that officials managed to get the door closed before it left the platform.
He said it’s not yet clear what caused the doors to open, calling it a serious but “very rare” incident. Ross said a mechanical feature should automatically trigger emergency brakes if a door opens in motion.

Ross said the crew will be interviewed and that mechanics are examining the train, which was taken out of service at the next stop, Broadview Station.
“Trains are not supposed to be able to move with doors open,” he said. “We need to understand what happened so it doesn’t happen again.”
It’s not the first time subway riders have had the doors open while in motion. It happened twice in March 2013, in incidents the TTC ascribed to “human error.”
