Sometimes, a robbery is a complicated heist involving high levels of deception, craft, and intrigue.
And sometimes, you just pick up an ATM with your buddy and walk right out of the building while no one is looking.
Security cameras at a Fort Meters, Fla., motel captured the bizarre scene as two men, dressed in basketball shorts and running shoes, made off with the contents of an ATM – and also the ATM itself.
“It’s pretty brazen that they would take an ATM machine when you know that it takes photographs of you,” Fort Myers resident Gary Mount told NBC 2 News. “I believe the criminals really believe they’re going to get off easy.”
The theft took place at the Baymont Inn and Suites motel in Fort Myers early Tuesday morning. Police say the men entered the motel and a few minutes later, worked together to heft – and then make off with – the ATM, which weighed over 500 pounds.
Anyone with information about the two men is urged to contact police.
