Rainfall expected in Calgary and mountain parks for May long weekend

Attention May long weekend campers of Alberta: it’s expected to rain this weekend.

According to Global News weather specialist Gemma Lynne Stroobant, Calgary will see heavy rain beginning Friday night and lasting into Saturday morning, with about 10 mm or more expected and an overnight low of 4 C.

Tomorrow, Calgary will have a brief break from the rain before it returns. The forecasted high for Saturday is just 10 C.

Calgarians will then see continued rain on Sunday and Monday, with highs of 9 C and 11 C respectively.

Those heading to the mountain parks should also prepare for wet weather.

According to Environment Canada, rainfall is expected in Banff, Canmore and Kananaskis from Friday through until Monday, with average highs dipping into single digits by late Sunday.

South of Calgary, High River, Atla. is also anticipated to see wet weather throughout the entire long weekend, as are areas further south, such as Claresholm and Cardston.
