Equipment stolen from BC RCMP cruiser on way home from helping Fort McMurray

The Airdrie RCMP is hunting for whoever who broke into two police vehicles and stole equipment, including ammunition and pepper spray, Tuesday night.

The vehicles were parked in the Ramada Inn parking lot in Airdrie, just off the QEII highway. The RCMP officers were from British Columbia, and were on their way home after helping with the wildfires in Fort McMurray.

On the morning of May 18, police discovered the cruisers had been broken into at some point during the night. Both vehicles were vandalized in the process.

The following equipment was stolen from the vehicles:

  • 1 duty belt
  • 5 RCMP dark blue pants and shirts
  • 1 RCMP shoulder flash
  • 2 RCMP baseball caps
  • 1 can of pepper spray
  • 2 pairs of handcuffs
  • 1 pocket multi-tool (Leatherman)
  • 3 ammunition magazines containing 9mm bullets (15 rounds per magazine)
