Fernando Abulmona is headed south for the long weekend in what he calls his second home. Abulmona has been travelling in a motorhome every summer for the last 15 years.
“It’s fun. I love the outdoors and nature,” he said.
Abulmona said he feels at home in his motorhome and has created a lot of memories with his family.
“I drove from here to Vancouver, to Washington–Seattle, Oregon to San Francisco, Los Angeles to Las Vegas,” he said.

Whether you are looking to take a short trip or a cross-country odyssey, one southern Alberta RV dealership is seeing a huge demand in its RV rental market.
It’s the first time Prairie Sky RV has taken on the RV rental market, and so far, they are almost booked solid in the summer months.
“Prairie Sky had a lot of phone calls last year about a rental program, which we didn’t have. We started in January. We are only one of two that actually rent,” said Dave Elliot, the manager of rentals for Prairie Sky RV in Coaldale.
Chinook Country Tourism says Albertans want to explore the outdoors closer to home, and a motorhome gives them the freedom to do that.
“I think what we have seen–and the industry has seen–is a proliferation, if you will, of RV sales in general,” said Nikolaus Wyslouzil, the executive director of the Chinook Country Tourism. “If you look at all the lots and all the vehicles, there is a very strong interest. Secondary homes and vacation homes are expensive, so for a lot of families taking a motorhome is an affordable solution.”
