Cyclist hit by vehicle on Highway 1 near Deacon’s Corner

WINNIPEG — A cyclist was hit be a vehicle on Highway 1 near  Deacon’s Corner Wednesday morning.

The crash happened after 7:30 a.m and am ambulance was on scene tending to the cyclist.

A witness tells Global News he saw the cyclist going westbound on Highway 1 over the floodway bridge. The cyclist then pulled out to cross onto the merge lane and a small blue car crashed into the cyclist from behind.

RCMP said the cyclist was treated for minor injuries – mostly cuts and abrasions. The driver was released and there are no charges.

Two lanes on the bridge were blocked to traffic, causing huge delays westbound on Highway 1. Vehicles could be seen lined up all the way to Deacon’s Corner.

The scene has since been cleared.
