Structure repair and events close roads for the weekend

Several road closures are expected this weekend as Toronto’s Beaches Jazz Festival, Kensington Market’s Pedestrian Sundays, as well as road repairs and maintenance get underway.

Portions of Queen Street East from Woodbine to Beech Avenues will not be accessible from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; however the north and south streets of Waverley, Wineva and Lee Avenues will remain open for area residents.

Police officers will be on hand to direct traffic for motorists, while TTC commuters need to find an alternative route passing the east-end as the 501 Queen streetcar will also be diverted.

On the other side of the city Kensington Avenue, Baldwin Street and Augusta Avenue will be closed from noon to 7:30 p.m., until the last Sunday of August for Kensington Market’s Pedestrian Sundays.

Road maintenance and structure repair will block access to Lakeshore Boulevard, leaving only single lanes open between Yonge and Jarvis Streets during daytime off-peak hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from July 27 to August 31.
