In Surrey a group of parents is fed up with the amount of overcrowding in local schools.
Parents are pleading with Surrey City Council to stop a proposed townhouse complex near a Newton Elementary School.
Those opposing the new 48-unit development say they don’t oppose all developments, but want new schools built along with them.
The group will also be travelling to Victoria tomorrow to try and meet with the education minister, hoping to get a promise for more funding for more schools in Surrey.

“What we’re asking, what we hope they understand, is that no one is asking them to stop development over all,” said Surrey resident and parent Cindy Dalglish.
“What we’re asking them to do is hold on for a little bit. Just maintain where you are with the neighbourhood concept plan and don’t go beyond that. Just so the schools can then have a chance to catch up.”
