Halifax Regional Police say they are investigating a case of suspicious circumstances, after receiving a report that a man asked a young child to go into the woods with him in Clayton Park on Saturday evening.
Around 7 p.m., police say an 11-year-old girl was in a basketball court in the area of Clayton Park Drive and Lacewood Drive when she was approached by a man. The suspect asked her to come with him, but she ran to her mother who was nearby and they called police.
The man is described as having a medium dark complexion and a slight accent. Police say he is reported to have short black hair and is clean shaven. The suspect was about 5’7″ with a small build and in his early 20’s.
At the time of the incident, the man is said to have been walking a dog, described as having brown curly fur. The dog was wearing a purple collar that may have had the name Lucy on it.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Halifax Police or Crime Stoppers.
