REGINA – After five months, the strike at Best Western Seven Oaks Hotel is finally over.
In December 2015, employees voted to strike after contract negotiation talks broke down over wage and benefits.
According to the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1400 (UFCW), at the request of Seven Oaks owner Glenn Weir, a vote was called on the last offer.
The vote, unsealed Friday, showed a vote of approximately 71 per cent of employees in favour of accepting the offer.
Owner Glenn Weir confirmed the strike ended Friday at around 3 p.m.
“I’m pleased to report that the employees overwhemingly accepted the employer’s original offer from December 22nd,” Weir said in a statement.
A total of 63 people voted in favour, and 26 voted against the offer.

UFCW Local 1400 President Norm Neault said there was no compromise, and he’s not calling it a win.
“I don’t know if you’d call it a win because I believe there’s probably some acrimony within the workplace, in terms of people on the picket lines on a good period of time, and going back into the workplace,” Neault explained.
Employees are expected to come back to work Monday.
