Winnipeg police search for ‘person of interest’ in skateboard assault

WINNIPEG — Police responded to a bus shelter in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue for reports of an assault involving a skateboard. Officers responded to the scene at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the victim had asked a man to stop smoking or leave the bus shelter.  The man then knocked the 63-year-old down and attacked him. He then used his skateboard to hit the victim several times.

The victim required medical attention according to a police news release.

Authorities released a photo of ‘a person of interest’. He is described as 5’7″ with short hair and a medium build. He was last seen wearing a grey or navy hoodie with a Toronto Maple Leaf’s baseball cap and holding a skateboard.
