The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) has charged one man and been issued an arrest warrant for another in connection with some drug-laced Christmas cards sent to the Medicine Hat Remand Centre (MHRC) in Dec. 2015.
The cards were intercepted by staff at the MHRC before they made it to any of the inmates.
ALERT said the cards, soaked with a form of liquid methamphetamine, were addressed to one inmate.
The cards had messages written in them like, “We keep you in our prayers every day” and “Make sure to call your brother on Xmas!”
Ryan Horb, 32, from Medicine Hat, was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
A warrant was issued for 25-year-old Justin Yaholnitsky, who is currently serving time in a Saskatchewan prison for an unrelated issue.
