Minor injuries after SUV hit by train in Tisdale, Sask.

Four people received minor injuries after the SUV they were in was hit by a train in Tisdale, Sask. The collision happened Wednesday around 7:25 p.m. CT at the intersection of highways 3 and 35.

According to police, the SUV was heading southbound on Highway 35 when it was struck by a Canadian Pacific Railway train.

Mounties say the railway crossing equipment appeared to be working.

A woman and three children, all from Tisdale, were taken to local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Three people on the train were not injured.

Traffic was detoured for approximately three hours.

Tisdale RCMP continue to investigate and are reminding drivers of the importance to be alert at railway crossings.
