The locals decided to take a hike after work on a bike trail on Blackcomb Mountain a few days ago.

They noticed something was wrong when their dog started becoming nervous. Then, out of nowhere, a cougar charged at the leashed dog.

The two women started throwing sticks and screaming, but the large animal didn’t back down at first.

“It charged up aggressively and hissed at the dog,” said hiker Lauren Sampson. “So at first it seemed very aggressive and then it backed up so it was about 10 feet away from us. There was one point when it looked like it was going to take a second lunge at us, and that was probably the most nerve-wracking part of the evening.”

The cougar followed them for a short while, but eventually did go back into the forest.
