Winnipeg man faces manslaughter charge after fatal attack

WINNIPEG — A week after a fatal stabbing on Alexander Ave. a 19-year-old man has been arrested and faces a number of charges including manslaughter.

Emergency personnel found Uta Gheorghe, 52, suffering from stab wounds on Alexander Avenue near Dee Street on April 27. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and was soon after pronounced dead.

Richard George Paul, 19, was arrested on May 3 and has been charged with:

  • Manslaughter
  • Aggravated assault
  • Failure to comply with recognizance x 2
  • Failure to comply with probation x 2
