Police charge 2 youths in Belvedere LRT Station murder

Edmonton Police have charged two female youths in connection with the death of a 50-year-old man more than a month ago.

Police were called to the area of 129 Avenue and 58 Street just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 27.

Investigators say a man was driving nearby when he saw someone on the ground on the east side of the Belvedere LRT Station parking lot.

“He knew he was in bad condition,” Staff Sgt. Duane Hunter said of the witness.

When officers arrived, the man was unconscious and “in critical condition.” He later died in hospital.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner determined that Bruce Peter MacDonald was stabbed to death.

Two female youths, aged 16 and 17, have both been charged with robbery and second-degree murder. They cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Homicide detectives say they are not looking for any other suspects.
