WINNIPEG– Several pieces of jewellery along with two televisions were stolen from the home of a homicide victim after police say they had cleared and secured the scene.
Christine Stoyko was found dead inside her Redwood Ave. home April 23rd. Police say she was the victim of blunt-force trauma.
Family members told police they were making funeral arrangements when they discovered missing items.
On Tuesday police said they had arrested Kevin Klassen and charged him with second-degree murder. But police say the home was broken into after Klassen was arrested.
Stoyko had protection order against the man accused of killing her.
Court records show the 37-year-old applied for the protection order December 22, 2015. In it she said she ‘feared for her safety’.
Police say Stoyko and Klassen had previously been in a relationship.

Last year the province announced it was changing the laws around protection orders after the deaths of three women. The changes make it easier for victims to apply for the order and come with an automatic fire arm ban.
