The investigation continues into three separate homicides in the Halifax-area.
Tyler Richards, Naricho Clayton and Daverico Downey were all gunned down within a week of each other.
Despite the recent surge in gun violence, however, the chief of the Halifax Regional Police wants to reassure the public that they are safe.
“Halifax is a very, very safe place to live in,” said Chief Jean-Michel Blais. “These are not random incidents, these are incidents where individuals were purposely targeting other individuals.”

Investigators are still working to piece together evidence in all three homicide cases. No arrests have been made and police continue to appeal to the public for help.
“As police, we can’t do this alone,” Blais said.
“We cannot arrest our way out of this problem, we need to have members of the community step up and provide us with information.”
Blais says some of the firearms used in criminal acts in the municipality are stolen from legitimate owners, but other guns are brought into the region from elsewhere.
“We do see some firearms coming from the states, but very little, and we do see firearms coming from Ontario and other provinces as well,” Blais said.
