REGINA – Police are still investigating after students from Winston Knoll Collegiate in Regina were sent home following a bomb threat at the school.
Police say they have conducted a search of Winston Knoll Collegiate and have not found anything suspicious.
Students were evacuated from the school, which located on the 5200 block of Rochdale Boulevard, at the start of the lunch hour, according to Regina Public Schools.
Classes were cancelled for the day and students who normally remain at school over the noon hour break were taken to the neighbourhing Michael A. Riffel High School.
Developmental centre students have been sent to other schools and will be transported home at the end of the day.
Parents received news of the evacuation and bomb threat through an automated call from the school.
“We were very scared. This is the first time it’s happened and anything like this we take very seriously”, Parent Derek George said.
Michael A. Riffel High School is currently under a hold and secure mode while police investigate the bomb threat at Winston Knoll. Police say investigators have not established that this is a credible threat.
Regina Public Schools says safety is their top priority.
“We take any kind of threat on our students and staff extremely serious. We’ would hope parents would want us to do that, we also take great pains to communicate what was happening”, Terry Lazarou, supervisor of communications at Regina Public Schools, explained.
Classes at Winston Knoll Collegiate will resume Tuesday.
