A young woman accused of kidnapping a three-day-old infant from a Louisiana hospital turned herself in to police Sunday.
The Monroe Police Department said a woman entered the room at St. Francis Hospital where the mother and newborn were staying, on Saturday, saying she was sent by a mutual friend to drop off a baby bag.
They conversed for a little while and the mother left to use the bathroom. According to the report when the mother returned to her room the baby was not in his bassinet.

Hospital staff and police were notified. A hospital employee said she recalled treating a woman several hours prior to the incident. The woman said she was having issues with pregnancy.
Security footage from the hospital showed a woman leaving with the baby without anyone stopping her.
The baby was located at a home, was found to be in good health and was reunited with his mother.
St. Francis Hospital said in a statement, “There was a safety/security issue that involved a patient on Saturday evening at our downtown campus. The end result is that everyone involved is safe, sound and secure. Out of respect for the patient and the ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide any additional details at this time.”
Anquinisha Cummings, 24, is facing a charge of aggravated kidnapping.
