WINNIPEG — Winnipeggers celebrated Earth Day with people all over the world on Friday. This weekend, many gathered at FortWhyte Alive to experience and learn more about Manitoba’s prairie environment.
The environmental recreation centre and park opened to the public for free on Sunday. Visitors were invited to try their hand at a number of activities including orienteering, guided bison hikes, baking bannock and archery.

“We’re all about environmental education, having fun outdoors, learning about sustainability and the world around us,” said Will Tarleton, events co-ordinator of Fort Whyte Alive.
There were plenty of events for the family and adults too as FortWhyte offered up demonstrations on urban farming and composting.
