Worker killed in baggage cart vehicle rollover at Pearson Airport

WATCH: The Ministry of Labour is investigating after a worker was killed in a baggage cart vehicle rollover at Toronto’s Pearson Airport – Apr 23, 2016

Police say an Air Canada Station Attendant was killed when the luggage tractor he was driving lost control and tipped over, pinning him to the ground at Toronto Pearson Airport on Friday.

Peel Regional Police said the worker was declared dead at the scene when the vehicle used to pull baggage carts fell on him at around 11 p.m.

Through a statement released by Air Canada, spokesperson Angela Mah identified the worker as 23-year-old Ian Henry.

“Air Canada Station Attendant Ian Henrey was fatally injured in an incident during his shift at Toronto Pearson Airport while driving a ramp vehicle,” the statement reads.

“This is a difficult time for our employees, particularly for those working at Toronto Pearson, and we have arranged for counsellors to assist our employees on site. Our thoughts and prayers are with our employee’s family.”

No flights were affected by the incident.

The federal Ministry of Labour is investigating.
