SASKATOON – A Saskatoon mother who pleaded guilty to stabbing her son learned her fate in a Saskatoon courtroom on Monday. The 35-year-old woman, who cannot be identified under a publication ban, was sentenced to five-and-a-half years for the aggravated assault.
She was arrested on March 28, 2013 after police were called to a home in the 400-block of 9th Street East to help resolve a child custody dispute.
At the time, a 10-year-old boy answered the door and told officers something was wrong inside. Officers entered the home and found the woman and her six-year-son inside a bathroom, both suffering from stab wounds.
