MONTREAL — Focus Montreal introduces Montrealers to people who are shaping our community, bringing their stories into focus.
It airs on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and at midnight.

Mike’s Goal
Mike Savatovsky, 41, is a cancer survivor and this year marks a milestone. Savatosiky has been cancer free for 20 years.
To celebrate, he’s decided to fulfil a childhood dream and all for a good cause.
As a child, Savatovsky dreamed of playing ice hockey but he never learned to skate.
So now Savatovsky hopes to help sick and underprivileged kids chase their own dreams.
To do that, he’s taking to the ice and planning a fundraising hockey game later this year.
But first, Savatovsky will be getting some coaching and on-ice training and he plans on documenting it all on his website.
Savatovsky’s goal is to raise $20,000, with all proceeds going to the Montreal Children’s Hospital and the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation.
Savatovsky, along with his hockey coach Martin Germain and local singer/songwriter Sara Diamond sat down with senior anchor Jamie Orchard to discuss this great endeavour.
Coalition calls for more diverse representation at city hall
Only six out of 208 councillors on the Island of Montreal are visible minorities.
Longtime city councillor Marvin Rotrand says the issue is twofold.
The first is getting minorities to feel they’re welcome to run for office.
The second is getting political parties in Montreal to make a commitment to recruit and support minority candidates.
Many suggest that more diversity would make city council more efficient and more representative of all Montrealers.
Rotrand sat down with senior Anchor Jamie Orchard to discuss the issue.
Moisson Montreal: Great Food Drive for Children
Senior anchor Jamie Orchard has had the honour of being one of the spokespeople for Moisson Montreal’s Great Food Drive for Children.
The initiative is raising money and awareness to help fight child poverty in the city.
The most shocking statistic is that 18,000 children below five years of age need food help every month.
With grocery prices rising and salaries on a plateau, the face of poverty in Montreal is changing.
More and more young families are turning to Moisson Montreal for help.
The Great Food Drive wraps up next weekend and actor Stephane Demers and Claudia Marques, from the Beat 92.5 dropped by Focus Montreal to encourage Montrealers to donate to the cause.
