DORVAL — Tree cutting crews were out early Friday morning taking down trees at the Dorval Municipal Golf Course.
The Aéroports de Montréal owns the land and wants to convert the green space into a security check point.
But the controversial decision is being fought in court.
Supporters of protecting the golf course are seeking a court injunction to stop the tree cutting or any other moves by the airport until the dispute is resolved.
Donald Hobus, a defender of the green space, says there was an agreement in principal between lawyers on both sides to not do anything until the issue was heard in court.
Hobus says that agreement has been violated.
“It’s frustrating, he told Global News.
So far, a spokesperson for the Aéroports de Montréal is refusing to comment.
