The suspect, identified as Pablo Javier Aleman, 46, was seen walking on the shoulder of Interstate 75 in Ohio on March 29 when he was spotted by Officer Joshua Hilling, 31.

According to WCPO News, Hilling asked Aleman if he wanted a ride but ignored the request.

That’s when Hilling exited his vehicle and approached Aleman.

In the footage, Hilling is heard telling Aleman to keep his hands out of his pockets and to walk over to the officer’s cruiser. There, Hilling said he was going to search Aleman for “officer’s safety.”

Within seconds, Aleman is seen taking out a knife – reported to be eight to 12 inches long – and asking to be shot.

“Kill me, kill me now, kill me,” Aleman said in the video.

Hilling shot the suspect in the abdomen but to no effect.

“I’m going to kill you, I’m going to kill you,” Aleman said to Hilling in the footage.

A deputy, who later arrived on scene, tased Aleman, ending the confrontation.

According to Fox 19 News, Aleman was wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing on March 17. Investigators also said they believe the knife Aleman was seen holding in the body camera video is the same one used in the homicide.

Aleman has been charged with attempted murder.
