If you’re between the ages of 15 and 24 and looking for a job in Calgary, the Youth Employment Centre (YEC) Annual Hiring Fair is the place to visit Tuesday afternoon. Jennifer Gee joined Global Calgary’s Morning Show with advice for students looking to land a position.

“Make a game plan, go to those employers, talk to them,” Gee said, adding it’s a good idea to bring paper resumes to hand out. “Also make sure you’re dressed to impress, because some employers will be doing on-the-spot interviews.”

“The employers are really looking forward to meeting all of these youth and looking specifically to hire within that age demographic of 15 to 24 so as much as they can prepare, the better chances they have.”

Gee said career counsellors are on hand giving resume tips. Watch the video above for her tips on making a great first impression and the importance of an “elevator pitch.”
