WINNIPEG – Brenden is headed up to the Winnipeg Jets, while Brendan is ready to turn pro.

The Winnipeg Jets recalled defenceman Brenden Kichton from the Manitoba Moose on Monday. The Jets also assigned Brendan Lemieux to the Moose after his Windsor Spitfires were eliminated from the OHL playoffs.

Kichton, 23, was called up for the second time this season. He failed to get into a game the last time he was called up less than two weeks ago. Kichton appeared in 65 games with the Moose this season and leads the team in points with 10 goals and 28 assists. Kichton was selected by the Jets in the seventh round, 190th overall in the 2013 draft and has yet to appear in an NHL game.

Lemieux, 20, had 32 goals and 30 assists in 45 games this season. He began the season with the Barrie Colts before being acquired by the Spitfires through a trade.

“Brendan had a real nice year, a real good playoff.” Jets head coach Paul Maurice said. “If you project at where you are hopeful about where his game goes, there’s always a role for that guy.”

“Good hands and on the puck, and a gritty player. Just want to be careful about handing anybody anything too early.”

Lemieux was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres in the Evander Kane trade. He was a late cut at Jets training camp after signing a three-year entry level contract last summer.
