EDMONTON – One person suffered serious injuries after jumping from a sixth floor south Edmonton apartment building after a fire had started in his suite.

Fire crews were called to an apartment building at 24 Avenue and 106 Street at around 5 a.m. Sunday after smoke could be seen billowing out of a window on the sixth floor.

The blaze was coming from one suite. One person inside the suite jumped to the ground and suffered serious injuries.

He was taken to the University of Alberta Hospital.

Fire investigators were assessing the damage and how many people would have to be displaced because of the fire.
