Man arrested after Canada-wide warrant issued in case of Alberta man killed fighting off thieves

A Canada-wide arrest warrant issued Friday resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old man in connection to the death of Dawson Wegner Cramer in Red Deer, Alta.

Dawson (D.J.) Wegner Cramer, 23, was found in distress in the area of Nordegg Crescent at around 5 a.m. on March 16. He was rushed to hospital where he later died due to “multiple blunt force trauma injuries,” RCMP said Friday.

RCMP allege Alexander Michael Talbot, of no fixed address, was trying to steal Wegner’s white Ford F650 with an accomplice when he was confronted by Wegner.

“Talbot drove the truck into Wegner which resulted in his death,” RCMP claimed in a statement.

Talbot, 24, is charged with manslaughter and theft. He was arrested in Red Deer Friday and is being held in custody pending the completion of his judicial interim release hearing, RCMP said.

On Saturday, March 26, RCMP said Talbot was remanded into custody to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on April 1.

Amanda Jo-Lynn Larsen, 27, was charged Thursday with possession of stolen property over $5,000 as a result of her involvement in the attempted theft. She was remanded into custody to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court March 29.
