CALGARY – RCMP in Canmore are searching for a man after a senior complained someone stole a “substantial” amount of money from her earlier this month.
The victim was contacted by a man who claimed to be a fraud investigator with a local bank on March 4.
The man said he was investigating an employee at his bank who was believed to be stealing from clients.

The suspect had personal information about the victim – including her financial details – and was able to convince her to visit the bank and withdraw an unspecified amount of cash.
The victim was directed not to touch the money herself and to have the bank employee put the money directly into an envelope.
After the victim left the bank, she was approached by the suspect, at which time she turned over the money to him.
“This type of fraud has been reported on numerous occasions in both Ontario and Manitoba,” RCMP said in a Thursday news release.
Canmore RCMP describe the suspect as approximately 50-60 years old, 5’10” tall, balding with light grey/brown hair on the sides. He was dressed very casually, wearing khaki-colored pants and a cotton shirt.
Anyone with information on his whereabout is asked to call Canmore RCMP at 403-678-5519 or contact Crime Stoppers.
